Woman charged in toddler’s homicide

A 28-year-old Fort Erie woman was charged yesterday with second-degree murder in the death of a two-year-old child whose remains have not yet been located.

Rainbow Hill was arrested following the investigation into the disappearance of the child that was kept quiet by police until today.

“At this time the remains of the deceased have not been located,” said staff sergeant James Prinsen of the Niagara Regional Police major crimes unit. “We will continue to work diligently to accomplish this recovery.”

“Any prior release of information would have significantly hampered our ability to conduct a complete investigation.”

The victim and the accused were known to each other but police have not released the nature of the relationship.

Police say more information is forthcoming.
