Two teens charged in rash of small fires

Two 18-year-olds were arrested and charged with mischief in relation to a rash of small fires in Ridgeway over the past month.

While police believe the pair had set fire to dumpsters and recycling boxes in a small area of town from the high school to Gorham Road, they do not know if they are responsible for the fire that destroyed a vacant home on Prospect Point Road.

The late night fires started happening on April 26 when some debris was burned behind the former Rona Hardware store.

The house fire on occurred early in the morning on May 19, and a dumpster at the high school was set aflame that night at 11:30 p.m.

Two days later, a dumpster behind the Avondale was set on fire along with a couple of recycling boxes in front of residences on Belair Boulevard.

Police arrested and charged Hayden Jessop and Garrett Garner on May 25 and were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
