Tripp goes to Region as commissioner

Ron Tripp, former director of infrastructure services for the Town of Fort Erie, has been appointed to the top public works position at Niagara Region.

His appointment as Commissioner of Public Works was made this morning.

Tripp headed the public works department in Fort Erie since 2005 and was acting CAO for more than 18 months.

He quit the day after being snubbed for the third time for the permanent CAO post in a series of controversial 4-3 votes by town council.

He joined the City of St. Catharines as director of transportation and environmental services for the City of St. Catharines last year.

Fort Erie is still without a CAO.

Fort Erie’s last CAO, Harry Schlange, was hired as CAO at the Region last fall.

Congratulations to Ron on his appointment to this very important position at the Region. Ron & Harry were great leaders here in Fort Erie. I was fortunate to work along side both men here in Town and they were great teachers along with their leadership. They will provide the Region with their knowledge and will no doubt be a force to recon with. Fort Erie’s loss is certainly a huge gain for the Region. I stated in a presentation to Council at the start of their term that they had better be aware of the quality of the staff they had or they could have difficulty in replacing them. I guess it turned into a truisim.
Congrats again to both Ron and Harry … May you both find success … Thou I am sure you will.
