Author Miriam Toews describes “My Puny Sorrows”

Acclaimed author Miriam Toews is the featured guest of the Canadian Authors Series at Roselawn Centre in Port Colborne Thursday night.

“All My Puny Sorrows” recounts in fiction her real-life grapple with her sister’s depression and suicide in a complicated mix of humour, sadness and optimism.

The book which was launched last spring was shortlisted for the Giller Prize and won the Writer’s Trust Fiction Prize.

Toews career sparkles with awards stretching back to 1996 with her first of seven novels thus far, “Summer of My Amazing Luck.”

The event includes a wine tasting, music with Soundscape, the house band, a reading and conversation with the author and book signing.

This is the 21st year of the Series which has hosted a veritable who’s who of Canadian literature.
