Its a shame that we have to wait 8 more days to finally get rid of NoYes.

Have you ever thought what Martins going to do without his gang.
I guess his offer of “MORE OF THE SAME” may not fly..Now that’s a shame..

Peter, I edited out your descriptive phrase. The phrase is not legally defensible and I am the one who will be held responsible should someone take affront.

Yes Peter, it will be a difficult task for the Mayor.

He has only 2 experienced councillors to work with. Councillor Schular, and Councillor “Sit in the Corner” Steckley.

As with most organizations, I am sure that you will agree, new executives tend to go in with both barrels ablazing and feel that they are going to change the world.

As most of the councillors elect have campaigned either on the Bay Beach issue or the hospital, I would suggest that they have no concept on what is REALLY required to run a town.

    Time will tell.

what will be a shame is if NoYes is mayor..Fort Erie would be known as the town with a thousand splash pads..instead it would be better to be known as the town with a forward thinking Mayor and council instead of one known as being against development. Give me “MORE OF THE SAME” and give my child a future in this town.

Dave, her name is Anne Marie Noyes, not NoYes.
How can you think “More Of The Same” will grant your child a future? If your child was all grown up at this time what part of Martin’s vision would benefit your child? We have no emergency, and no abundance of high paying jobs and taxes keep rising, so why would your child stay?
Martin has done nothing but waste money and make false promises of a brighter future. I watched Martin at a Niagara regional council meeting when health care was brought up and do you know what he said? NOTHING, he kept his head down and shuffled papers. Vance Badawey however gave a great speech. Is this the guy you want fighting for our hospital?
He also said property taxes only went up 2.50 to 3.00 dollars, mine went up approximately 50.00 dollars a month, huge difference.
Lastly, a letter went out to employees of the track in which they used the threat of job loss if they chose not to vote for Martin. This was a lie.
As a tax payer, I am deeply angered and as an ex-soldier I am deeply offended that such a letter would be put out for the voting citizens to read. Do we live in a dictatorship or a democracy? If we live in a democracy then you do not INTIMIDATE the voters.
As far as I am concerned, if Fort Erie remains under the control of Martin, our children have no future here and neither does anyone else.
One thing the election definitely showed us, is that a condo is not wanted in Crystal Beach.

Martin said his tax bill went up an average of three per cent per year, not three dollars.

The letter from the Service Workers Union did not contain a threat, as you say. It said the councillors that they endorse have indicated their support of the racetrack beyond the next two years. The letter is no different from the plethora of emails and letters sent out by Noyes supporters flogging their slate of candidates with information like this:

“There is strong suspicion that the Bertie Boat Club will be the next target since the Town owns that property and a condo tower with a marina fits this Council’s vision of the new Crystal Beach. These two properties (Bay Beach and Bertie Boat Club) would set the stage for the Town’s plan to buy up other waterfront properties all along the Fort Erie shoreline and replace charming single-family homes with high-density mixed use buildings. This is not smart development – it will alter our community forever!”

Noyes has been nothing but a blathering busybody stuck on trivialities like lunch invitations, splashpads and calling for cuts to taxes. Not once did she make a substantive contribution or a recommendation on what to cut. Indeed, anything she has suggested would only have cost money, such as $100,000 for a management consultant to review Town operations.

And I couldn’t help but bust a gut when at the candidates night at the Leisureplex, she called for the Town to install GPS units in Town vehicles. If she had been paying attention she would know that a program to install GPS units was started two years ago and that most vehicles now have one, and the units in the summer vehicles are put in contractors’ snowplows so the public works department can monitor and prove what roads have been cleared. I guess the memo about that didn’t include lunch.

    Derek,
You call her Noyes I call her NoYes. You told me in your opinion what Martin has not done for this town..now please tell me from what you have seen from NoYes in the past, what she will do for this town (other than turn away any future development). From what I have seen from the council meeting I have been to, she will do nothing for this town. In my opinion she was an embarrassment on council and she would be even more as Mayor. PS: by the way, this election did not show that a condo is not wanted in Crystal beach. What it did say is that the narrow minded thinking people in Ward 4,5 & 6 possibly don’t want it.

You’re right Derek, Martin did nothing. He was a total failure. After four years he failed to shut Noise’s yap. But what was I supposed to do? Vote for her? Yeah right.

Yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, etc.

    Hey Mike
You need to have a sports page. I think it would be popular. There’s a lot of good local sports going on in Ridgeway. Keep up the good work.
