Recount confirms Martin election

Doug Martin’s election as mayor was confirmed in a recount held today.

Challenger Ann-Marie Noyes lost one vote.

The tally is 4836 to 4831.

She is said to have retained Eric Gillespie, who is representing the appeal of the Bay Beach condominium, to file an appeal for a court-ordered hand count of the ballots.

I’m sad to think that Ann-Marie Noyes perhaps is going to put we taxpayers to such an expense. I understand her disappointment BUT!

Well, here we go! The re-count wasn’t enough. Next is the Judicial count. Then the appeal of that, and so on, to the Supreme Court decision.

And is anyone surprised by the lawyer, and that she will not give it up. This will go on longer that it did in Vaughn in the last election.

So who is paying the 5 grand for the recount? Noyes? Martin? Or us?

The Town pays for the recount.

The town paid for the recent recount, she is responsible for the fees for the judicial recount. Why didn’t she go with the “deck of cards” decision she talked about at FESS when she discussed her 4 vote win the last time she ran for council? She said if that outcome was a dead heat, a deck of cards would have made the decision. I’ll buy the cards!

What was the “deck of cards” decision?

Mike, check out forterie.tv and see the video where she talks to the students. She mentions the “deck of cards” in her speech.

I love how Noyes true colours are shining through. We’re seeing her for what she really is, a egotist. She can’t believe people wouldn’t vote for her and that there is 60 ballots that have no mayoral candidate choice.

She doesn’t care about the people of Fort Erie, she only cares if she sits her butt in that Mayor chair and doesn’t care what she has to do to get there.

She stated as her slogan, “Let your voice be heard”, well the people have chosen, and they chose her not to be that voice.

    Roki,

Nobody knows what those 60 votes are… they could be blank or it could be that the voter didnt color in the circle dark enough or didnt colour it completely… It is very clear that those 60 votes could change the outcome and therefore a hand recount is a reasonable.
