Point Abino cemetery held at least 10

The remains of 10 people have been unearthed from the unmarked pioneer cemetery that workers discovered on Point Abino Road last month, staff have reported to Fort Erie town council.

The $60,000 cost for the archeological investigation, exhumation and future reburial is expected to be funded from the town’s emergency reserve.

An archeologist’s report is expected soon, and the provincial cemetery registrar will decide whether further investigations are warranted.
