NRP cop stole security cameras, says OPP

A Niagara Regional Police constable will appear in an Owen Sound courtroom August 23 on charges he stole security cameras from a residence on the Lake Huron shore of the Bruce Peninsula.

Ontario Provincial Police say Jeffrey May, 54, who lives in Hamilton and has been with the NRP for nine years, was observed causing damage to a fence and hose reel during his off-duty adventure on the night of June 2.

He is charged with trespass by night, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.

In accordance with the Police Services Act, May was suspended with pay.
