Off-duty cop faces assault, weapons charges

A Niagara Regional Police officer faces assault and other charges after a domestic dispute with his common-law partner at his Ridgeway home early Sunday morning.

Ryan Woehl was off duty at the time and has been suspended with pay.

He was arrested at his home and is charged with two counts of assault, one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of unsafe storage of a firearm and two counts of unsafe storage of a prohibited device.

He has been a member of the Niagara Regional Police Service for eight years and was most recently assigned to the casino unit.
