Ignatieff to visit Falls

Federal Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff will visit Niagara Falls Friday afternoon for a barbecue hosted by candidate Bev Hodgson.

The event at Club Italia is one of many whistle stops for the party leader as part of this summer’s Liberal Express.

Ignatieff will speak about the Liberal plan to provide new support for homecare providers and care givers.

Nearly 3 million Canadians, mostly women, provide care for a family member wil long-term health porblems or age-related illnesses accounting for 80 per cent of home care services, according to the event announcement.

Many care givers must leave the workforce, creating financial stress on themselves and their families and harming the economy.

The barbecue starts at 4:30 p.m. and runs to 8 p.m. Club Italia is located at 2525 Montrose Road. All are welcome to attend. Tickets are $10. To reserve a ticket call 905 353-2900.
