Ice caves start to crack, access restricted

Large cracks have opened up in the ice caves at Crystal Beach Waterfront Park and fire officials are advising people to stay clear.

Niagara Regional Police have been called in to move people away from the caves and the top of the piles.

Two people have been injured in falls the past two days, including an elderly woman who broke her hip. A man was knocked unconscious after falling yesterday.

Traffic and crowds have created congestion on the roads, making it difficult for emergency vehicles.

A small team of firefighters have been on scene all afternoon to provide assistance if necessary.

More firefighters have been dispatched to control crowds.
