Help sought to find toddler’s body

Niagara Regional Police are looking for the remains of a two-year-old girl who has been missing since July and have charged her mother and an acquaintance in her suspected death.

The acquaintance, Rainbow Hill, 28, of Fort Erie was charged Thursday with second-degree murder. The mother, Roseanne Whalen, was charged yesterday with criminal negligence causing death, accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to human remains.

Police learned of Marissa’s disappearance on Oct. 8 and started an investigation which was announced yesterday.

“Any prior release of information would have significantly hampered our ability to conduct a complete investigation,” said staff sergeant James Prinsen of the NRP’s major crimes unit. “We will continue to work diligently to accomplish this recovery.”

The search effort is focused on an area of the Six Nations Reserve on Third Line Road in Ohsweken.

Investigators believe other people have information in the matter and urge them to contact police at 905-688-4111 extension 4251.
