Fort Erie Race Track to close

“We have the responsibility to determine whether future operations at this track can continue,” said Jim Thibert, chief executive officer of the racetrack and secretary/treasurer of the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium. “In the final analysis, without the needed funding of close to $6 million, the board resolved that the Fort Erie Race Track would formally close as of Dec. 31, 2012.”

It’s hard to say whether we’ve been stabbed in the heart or our heart has been plucked out. It feels pretty much the same.

My heart goes out to the people of Fort Erie and the impact the closure of the slots and and now the racetrack will have on their local economy.
The McGinty government is behaving like private busineses who move offshore to make higher profits. McGinty will be hard pressed (and a hypocrite)to tell private business to stay in Ontario when they behave in the same cold manner.
A concerted effort should be made to make sure that the Liberals do not win the vacant seat in Waterloo, Ontario. They do not deserve to be rewarded.
