A Fort Erie firefighter is credited with saving the life of a woman moments before flames engulfed her vehicle after it crashed into the ditch on Sunset Road Saturday night.
Robert Puttick was at Fort Erie Golf Club when emergency crews received the call around 9:11 p.m. He rushed out before trucks arrived and helped the woman from the crashed SUV.
The engine had caught fire and a live hydro line was draped across the vehicle.
The driver was not hurt and did not require hospital treatment.
It took about an hour to put out the fire because of the electrical hazard.
