Fenian Raid inspires musicians

13/06/14 — The Fenian Raid is a unique event in the history of Ridgeway and the name lends itself well to a unique four-piece band which was been appearing at a local venue over the past year.

The band is called Fenian Raid and a party to mark the release of their first record, Acoustic Shadows, will be held at the Sanctuary Centre for the Arts, Friday, June 21.

Angus Butler, Frank Devereaux and Jason Cline are from Ridgeway. Bandmate Kevin Crone is from Burlington.

They describe themselves as a folk rock band with a kitchen party Celtic stomp featuring acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, ukulele, accordion, spoons, drums and other percussion.

Their songs pay homage to the Battle of Ridgeway and other aspects of Canadian history and the wilderness.

Fenian Raid will be sharing the bill with The Matinee, an up-and-coming band from Vancouver who also have released their debut album.
