EMS and cops look for lost medication

Paramedics lost a small package of potentially hazardous emergency heart medication from an ambulance in Niagara Falls and a search is underway.

Niagara Emergency Medical Services are enlisting anyone who may have found a small white box with three pre-loaded vials to call 911 immediately.

The box may have fell from an ambulance near North Street and Stanley Avenue sometime between 2:20 p.m. yesterday and 2 p.m. today.

There are no hypodermic needles in the box, but the vials are made of glass and could shatter if tampered with.

One vial contains normal saline which is salt water. Another contains lidocaine and the third contains amiodarone.

The box is larger than a man’s hand, has a yellow stripe and a barcode number 01-643-7.
