Drug robbery at former massage parlour

Niagara Regional Police are searching for a second suspect in a robbery and assault that involved a handgun, drugs, car chase and a smashed police cruiser Tuesday night.

Police say two men — one armed with a pistol — tried to steal marijuana from the two occupants of a house that used to be a massage parlour at 960 Garrison Road around 10:20 p.m. They fought and one of the occupants was stabbed in the head.

The assailants fled in a vehicle and were located on McLeod Road in Niagara Falls. Police gave chase and a cruiser was rammed.

John Thorndyke, 23,  of Hamilton was arrested and charged with a number of crimes including attempted murder. The second suspect is described as a black male, wearing jeans and possibly a striped shirt.

Police say Thorndyke had originally misidentified himself as Brennan Harman, 22, of Caledon.

The injured victim was treated and released from hospital.
