Driver blows through RIDE stop, gets nailed

A Fort Erie man faces dangerous driving and impaired driving charges after blowing through a RIDE check point late Thursday night.

Niagara Regional Police say David Dodson, 51, sped up and drove past the check stop on Stevensville Road north of Eagle Street around 11:45 p.m.

Police went after him and pulled him over without incident.

His vehicle was impounded for seven days under provisions of the Road Safety Act that came into effect on Dec. 1.

More than 200 drivers were screened at the check point, seven provided breath samples and one received a three-day suspension for registering a “warn” on the sampling device.
