Customs HQ for S. Ont moves to Fort Erie

Customs operations in southern Ontario will be consolidated in Fort Erie starting April 1.

The Canada Border Services Agency announced late Monday afternoon that the two regions servicing Windsor-St. Clair and Niagara will be headquartered in Fort Erie.

It had been a cause of concern when last summer word was received that CBSA had undertaken a review of its operations.

Town councillor Sandy Annunziata urged council to lobby the federal government to consider Fort Erie for the headquarters.
