Cost to fire lawyer: $254,000 plus, plus

Town council paid $50,000 to make terminated Town solicitor Heather Salter’s harassment complaint go away and 18 months salary for her to go away — plus vacation pay, pension contributions, benefits, legal fees and “mitigation expenses,” otherwise known as miscellaneous.

[More to come]

It makes complete sense – usually terminating a salaried employee with tenure costs between 2-3 times their annual compensation (pay + benefits) – I think we’ll see the final number near $300k, but also all the time spent by other employees, etc. costs will not be known.

That is the settlement for the wrongful dismissal — 18 months salary plus benefits and pension contributions, etc. Plus $50,000 to make her lawsuit against them go away.

How can any rationally thinking person accept the costs to wrongfully dismiss the Town Solicitor as complete sense. $300,000 to satisfy egos. I thought there were only four idiots in Fort Erie but I guess there are more.

I think you may have misunderstood what and how the author of the comment stated makes sense.
