Campaign finances to be audited

Three Fort Erie town councillors will have their campaign finances examined by an auditor to investigate “obvious infractions” of municipal election law.

A committee of representatives of Niagara municipalities — the Compliance Audit Committee — ordered “all-inclusive” compliance audits during a hearing June 6 to investigate claims against John Hill, Don Lubberts and Paul Collard.

“Once an obvious infraction of the (Municipal Elections) Act has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, even by the admission of the candidates themselves, we have no other alternative but to refer for a compliance audit,” said committee chairman David Barrett of Welland.

    Steckley didn’t take a donation from a non-resident. That’s why he’s not being audited.

Thank you RICK. Every unbiased and objective word you write is one less prejudiced word I have to write. By the way, where are you getting the paper?

Thanks again RICK. I could use more copy. Please keep them coming. If you run out of ideas, maybe you can recycle some old ones you posted elsewhere under other aliases. Thanks a bunch. Your pal, Mike C.
P.S. Be careful going through the garbage to get a copy of the paper. It can get pretty nasty down there with the hot weather and all. To spare you the risk, why don’t you just send me money and I’ll put you on the subscription list.

Is that all RICK? That’s all you’ve got? Come on,you’ve got to give the people what they want. And, well, if you want to go through people’s garbage just to get my paper, that’s your business. I just thought for $20 you could retain some dignity. But judging from all your comments, you don’t really have any, do you?
    Your pal, Mike C
